I grew up in the Bay Area, but have always planned to move to LA. I only applied to x in LA County and ended up in Pomona. Iām currently finishing a degree in Visual Communication Design at Cal Poly Pomona. I first picked up a camera when I took a photography class in my first year of college, and I quickly became obsessed with it. Ever since I was a kid, my goal has been to do some type of work that is memorable for other people, and I have found a way to do that through photography. I cut my teeth as a photographer by shooting the local music scene in and around Pomona. This allowed me to combine my love of live music with my newfound passion for photography and introduced me to a great network of artists and creatives. I learned how to capture live events while handling the chaos of mosh pits and stage divers, while also developing my own personal style. I have covered a variety of other subjects, from architectural photography to cars, landscape, portraits, and sports; however, most of my professional work has been in the music scene. When I saw the Anti-ICE protests start on June 6th, I decided I would go out the next day and do my best to document what I saw take place. While I was scared as I made my way into the protest, I also felt like I was starting a new journey as a photographer. Being able to document the reality of these protests was a great introduction to photojournalism and has left me looking for more events to photograph. As I move forward, I plan to continue to cover any protests that may occur, as well as seek out other situations that may be less covered.
